Nice looking, size is good, but insoles are needed

This boot is handsome and fits as expected. The leather upper is high quality, and its thickness is akin to full grain. The beeswax color is very nice. The boot is well-suited for casual and maybe dress-casual. My size is exactly a men's 10 EE, so I ordered the wide option. The fit is about right.

Today was the first full day I had them, and I walked on city streets all day. They were not uncomfortable, but I understand the criticism of the hard insoles (no insole?) and the soles, as well as the lack of arch support. It's warranted. The soles are not gum rubber or flexible like the original Clarks Desert Boot, which seems to be the rub.

Update: I have put Birkenstock insoles in them. They help a lot. Also, before I put the shoes on, I grab the tip & heel, and bend the shoes in half, and then grab the middle of the sole and the tip and bend there, too. It's helped reduced the stiffness in the sole. The shoes are now comfortable everyday use.

Looks good but no arch support

Like: the look of the chukka style boot. I ordered 10 1/2 W and they just fit in the width without being too tight with thin/dress socks. I think heavier socks would require going up a size in width. But I don't know if they come in a size wider than W. The biggest negative is no arch support. This would not be your shoe choice for any serious hiking. And if you were to use an insole I think once again you would have to go up a size otherwise the upper is going to be too tight across the top of your foot. A word about the beeswax finish: it develops a distressed look immediately. After only three short walks the creases and Nick's show through the original dark brown finish. It's not necessarily a bad look. Your shoes will look like you wore them for years in a matter of hours. But if you want a more formal look for the life of the shoe you probably need to explore the other finishes. In summary I give it a 3 for comfort and a 5 for looks.

On the pro side, the boots look fantastic. But there are a few issues. The boot is very uncomfortable to wear, with the insoles that are provided. I suggest changing those, and the laces as well. Durability should be ok, but definitely treat the leather and weatherproof it. The boot has next to no traction, especially with icy conditions. So I consider these a dry weather, summer boot. Still they look very sharp, even rivaling something that might cost you twice as much. Used properly they are an excellent value.

QUALITY SHOE AT REASONABLE PRICE

I was surprised to find a Chukka Boot by Clarks at such a reasonable price; many competitors price their boots at several times the price that Clarks charges. The boot is well made and fits the foot well. While I always buy a 4E in width, I could not find one in that size in Chukka boots, so I decided to try the 13W that Clarks offered, and it was sufficiently wide. While I'm an old guy (85) with bad feet and no shoe works really well, I'm able to wear these without much problem for several hours. So, thanks to Clarks for making a quality product at a reasonable price.

I like the boot. They're not the most comfortable, but I've gotten a LOT of compliments on the beeswax color. Can't beat the price either. It took around two weeks of morning/evening daily dog walks to break them in. The rubber sole is okay, but I'm interested in trying the crepe version on the CDB next time. For reference, I wear 11.5 in Vans, New Balances, Adidas, and Nike and I sized down to a 10.5 for these Clark's.

Pretty good w/ a few small exceptions

The color I ordered was "black smooth", but when I opened the package, the boots were more hombre-- only the edges of the shoes were black; they were largely a gunmetal color. Even the laces are grey. But in all fairness, I bought a pair of Clarks for $30. I applied some leather dye and black shoe polish to resolve that issue and now I'm satisfied.

Just a word of advice, the break-in process with these shoes is kind of brutal. The shoes DO run half a size large. (I wear a 10 in Vans and any other sneaker or boot, and a 9.5 in Converse.)

I read some reviews stating these shoes ran a full size large-- I wouldn't recommend going down a full size. I tried to mitigate the discomfort of the break-in stage by purchasing some $15 Dr Scholl's insoles, and that exacerbated the discomfort, as my toes did not have any wiggle room whatsoever.

I bought these shoes for work and have just now worn them a full week. These are definitely not ideal for unforgiving concrete floors, but are gradually becoming more comfortable with each wear. For casual purposes, they're perfectly fine, but still nowhere nearly as comfortable as their predecessors with the crepe sole. I haven't noticed any flaw in construction thus far.

Ultimately I feel good about this purchase.

I love Clarks shoes and boots, and these are no exception.
The only issue I have with them is the opening and the sole (see below) - could do with a little more padding as, after several hours of wear, it can cut a little.
Would also advise using a leather conditioner on these to keep them in good condition.
The down side - almost no grip on the sole of the shoe and, the sole seems 'thin'. After a few months of wear, I can already feel the 'grid' in the heel getting ready to come through.
But overall, these complaints are minor and the boot is great looking and comfortable.

So I've always wanted a pair of Clark's chukka boots and when I came across the on sale deal ($48.99) I decided it was time. Couple notes as there has been mixed reviews: 1. Yes, the beezwax color is darker in person, but I believe as you wear them more and they get that worn rugged look they'll lighten up. 2. They are not the softest in-sole for chukka boots(pretty hard but walking around hasn't really bothered me) 3. I think they have the best classic look to a chukka boot in the market.

Fits like a glove!

I've always wanted a nice pair of chukka boots and I have found it in these Clarks! Having a wide foot, I could never find any that fit correctly. I wear a size 10 M normally but with these since they were offered in wide sizes I went ahead and got a size 9 wide. The fit is AMAZING! The sale on these boots are amazing. Quality is top notch. However, as some of the other reviews do say, they are not THAT comfortable. I have only owned them for a few days and yesterday I wore them for a 15 hour shift. Needless to say my feet were KILLING me when I got home. Nothing some inserts wont fix though. The only reason they are not getting a 5 star is for the comfort and comfort alone. Go ahead and get them!

Great Shoe

I have always liked the style of the these shoes and am glad to have purchased them; not only in beeswax leather, but also in suede. The shoe seems to run a bit large (or maybe it's my feet that seem to take different sizes for different shoes). My only concern is that the shoe is very loose around the top of the ankle. Being that it only has 2 eyelets for the entire shoe, it isn't very tight around the ankle. Otherwise, I am very happy with the shoes and the purchase. Shipping was very fast and the items arrived in pristine condition.
