Good boots, alittle uncomfortable in toe section
Recensito negli Stati Uniti 🇺🇸 il 17 agosto 2021
UPDATE AFTER 1 YEAR: They still bother my feet towards the back of my toes where the indentation of the front portion of the boot bends when walking. After 1 year of use I would have assumed they would break in and wouldn't bother anymore, but they still bother me in the same spot.
2/5 stars comfortability.
I've walked in a couple inches of sitting water. I've noticed they are not waterproof but rather water repellant for the first layer of water that hits it. After you wet them again or walk through some wet grass they will start to leak water around the toe portion and sides of your feet. The soul inside will start to feel cold and it's the soul absorbing the water. You can immediately tell these are not very waterproof once they repeatedly get wet with any source of water. 1/5 stars for waterproof.
Overall structure is a 3/5. Traction, soul, and bottom is firmly attached to the fabric, decent softshell fabric, no cuts or tears. The shoe laces are starting to get worn out and soon will need replacement.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: These are true to size. Size 10 is a 10. I've purchased alot from this brand for several boots and some are larger than it's size but these are pretty accurate. I normally wear 9.5 or 10 in boots so I went with the 10 and they fit with a little bit of room enough for thicker style socks. So if you wear normally a 10 in boots maybe a 10.5 is better to have some bit of breathing room for different style thick socks. The only problem I had was the front toe section starts to indent into your foot when you bend your toes and you do feel it after walking for a long time. The boots are broken into already and did 4 hikes but they still seem to bother. I think if I would have gone with a size smaller then it would have been way worse because they would have been tighter and more pressure around the toes when bending. The traction on the shoes are VERY good for hiking, with a group of 4 people going down some sloppy rocky wet terrain everyone slipped with their boots and mine did not. Everyone was wearing big chain box store name brands and fairly new boots but they were slipping but NOT ME.

You get what you pay for
Recensito negli Stati Uniti 🇺🇸 il 15 febbraio 2021
These are inexpensive hiking boots, which made sense for me because I wanted something more rugged than standard athletic shoes for trail hikes that tend to beat up shoes. I only tend to go on such hikes occasionally, anywhere from 10-20 times per year, so I felt I didn't necessarily need something that was top of the line.
First, the good news- they're fairly rugged, with good, grippy soles that put up in my hikes with a lot of jagged rocks. They're lightweight on the feet, and I like the ankle support a lot. My foot feels like it's firmly inside. I've used these on five long trail hikes, all in dry weather, and they show no signs of wear other than dust and dirt on them.
The bad news, however, is something to pay attention to. While the ankle support (assuming a good, firm, lace-up) is fine, I don't like the foot support in the sole. I have relatively high arches, and these don't provide much arch support, so much so that on my last hike which was a moderate uphill climb, I developed plantar fasciitis on my left foot despite there being no "incidents" to speak of during the hike. I'd suggest you get good insoles for these shoes as what comes with them just isn't great.
Others have pointed out that they aren't really waterproof (despite a prominent metal tag on the boots claiming they are). I would tend to agree. While my hikes have been dry, these are basically cloth boots with a plastic shell around them, and enough cloth is exposed that there's no way they keep water from your feet. If you're going hiking through creeks or swampy ground, your feet WILL get wet, no two ways about it, even if the water gets no higher than an inch or two on the boot.
Also, if you're like me and have prominent heel bones, you'd better make sure you wear thick hiking socks. These boots were hard on my heels the one time I wore standard athletic socks, and I regretted it for a week.
In summary, if you're into occasional light to moderate trail hiking in a dry climate and don't want to spend big money on top-of-the-line boots, these are a decent option, with the caveat that you should add a good insole and thick socks. If your demands are greater than that, I'd look elsewhere at better quality options.

Update after 2 years of 4 season Hiking!
Recensito in Canada 🇨🇦 il 13 novembre 2022
So I've used these for 2 years for 4 season mountain hiking and this is what I can report:
Pros
Price!
Weight (not ultralight but not heavy)
Sturdy and Comfortable
Durable (one small fray and slight toe rubber peal)
The boots + Merino Wool Socks = Warm feet in -30c foot deep+ snow
Cons
The only unfortunate thing is after 2 years they are no longer completely 100% waterproof but wait...
The waterproofing worked fine for the first year in shallow stream crossings (3" water or less) and in snow up to my thighs which would melt in the sun, then freeze when it was water and melt and freeze and melt and freeze repeatedly. I recently broke through ice 3 times in less than 5 minutes completely submerging the boot underwater and then watching the snowy slush freeze to my boot (it was -10c out, no sun). I was wearing thermal hiking pants and socks and gaiters and was astonished that my foot wasn't soaked thru! A little damp but foot stayed warm on the return 5km to the parking lot. I was so comfortable in fact that after the submerging I continued to do some side exploring, post holeing in snow above my knees. Feet weren't cold or squishy in my boots. Socks were damp in both the submerged and non submerged boots, equally comfy and warm. Might have been a different story in -20c afer submeriging my foot but yesterday in Kananaskis I was completely fine.
Highly Recommend!

Great craftsmanship

I like that these shoes are waterproof, and comfortable when new. I’d never would expect that. If I would need a new pair, I’d buy this brand again.
