scorrendo i vari prodotti su amazon ho trovato molti timer ma questo fa al caso mio uso astrofotografico ma va benissimo in cucina e ovunque
anzitutto ha una sola linea di lettura molto grande ed una retroilluminazione arancione ben visibile come i caratteri a led grandi neri
i comandi sono molto semplici
sul retro dove si montano le pile o batterie ricaricabili c'e' il tasto per variare il volume spento 1 2 3 su 3 il volume e' molto alto
con mode si passa da orologio a timer poi si possono regolare le ore minuti secondi
per azzerare il timer bisogna prima fermarlo con il tasto stop start poi spingere contemporaneamente i tasti HR e MIN
per bloccare il suono basta spingere il tasto start stop
puo' funzionare anche come cronometro azzerando il timer e poi spingendo il tasto start
in astronomia e' molto utile perche' permette di vedere l'ora al buio come il timer
ma soprattutto permette di impostare i secondi! tipo uno scatto da 20 secondi in astrofotografia
con un laccetto puo' essere appeso al collo'
e' dotato di una calamita potente non cadra' mai- ha un'asticella sul retro per mantenerlo in piedi ma obliquo su un piano orizzontale
ha istruzioni in italiano ben fatte come in altre lingue
ci sono anche i riferimenti per assistenza telefono e email
costruttore serio e professionale

Come diversi prodotti già in mio possesso di questa marca sono sempre soddisfatto per la qualità di costruzione dei materiali.

Solo due aspetti potrebbero essere migliorati ed è il motivo per cui non metto 5 stella:
+ il livello audio minimo è comunque piuttosto alto.
+ non esiste un tasto di reset del timer. Per far ripartire il timer con le ultime impostazioni bisogna lasciarlo scadere, altrimenti bisogna resettarlo a 0 e reimpostarlo a piacere.

I think it is amazing that finding a good kitchen timer is so hard. Designing a good, functional kitchen timer should be pretty straight-forward, you would think, and still, I haven't found one that works like I think it should. This one comes close.

PROS / POSITIVES

+ Can be used as a regular clock displaying hours, minutes and seconds – as well as a count-up or count down timer (from 1 second up to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds).

+ For the clock, you can choose between a 12 hour (for example 6:00 pm) or 24 hour display (for example 18:00), so whichever of these two clock display modes is your preference, you can have it.

+ Displays large, easy-to-read-from-a-distance numerals.

+ Easy and straight-forward operation (for the most part). For example, when setting the clock, if you overshoot by pressing and holding the + button down, you can easily re-adjust by pressing the – button. [To set the clock you first have to be in clock mode, then long-press the start/stop button. Then you go through a process of setting: 1) 12 or 24 hour clock ; 2) hours; and finally 3) minutes. You shift between the three steps by pressing the start/stop button.]

+ When used as a count-down timer: After the alarm goes off, it automatically starts counting up instead, so if you go over, you can tell by how much you’ve gone over. The audible alarm beeps for one minute – after that the alarm is only visual as the numerals keep blinking as they count up.

+ Automatic memory function: After stopping the alarm, the display automatically returns to the last alarm setting. So if you need to do several baking sheets, for example, you don’t have to set the alarm each time – you just need to press the start/stop button. Of course, if you need to, you can clear the last alarm setting by pressing the HR/+ and MIN/- buttons simultaneously.

+ Alarm volume is adjustable: off; low; medium; high (I would call it: “off, too loud, painfully loud, and excruciatingly loud” (I am getting ahead of myself here, that’s a con/negative).

+ Magnets are strong enough to hold the unit on the fridge door and the back is flat and features four rubber feet – one in each corner. These things combined yield a sturdy attachment to steel surfaces and allows for pressing buttons without the unit wobbling and detaching.

+ Flip-out stand works well and puts the unit at a good angle for stability and readability.

+ 10 second back-light turns on whenever you press a button, or when you just touch the lamp-symbol at the center of the top edge.

+ Runs on a pair of easy-to-find AA-batteries.

+ Booklets with clear, understandable user-instructions in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

+ Leaves you with an impression of good quality.

+ Four year warranty available, by simply registering the product.

CONS / NEGATIVES

- As already mentioned, the alarm is either off, too loud, painfully loud, or excruciatingly loud. I would have liked an additional audible setting that is not loud.

- When setting the alarm volume, a single beep is made at each setting, and the loudness of the beep is an example of the chosen setting. You can only cycle through the four settings in one direction, from off to the loudest setting. This way, the loudest settings are unavoidable. If you need it to be quiet, you can’t go from low directly to off – you have to cycle through the medium and high settings. In other words, you have to be loud to be quiet, which is annoying and not very well thought through. I would much prefer not having these “example beeps“ when setting the alarm volume.

- When setting the alarm or clock, each press of a button is accompanied by a beep, unless the alarm volume is set to off. These beeps are unnecessary, loud and annoying. I would much prefer no beeps at button presses (regardless of alarm volume setting).

- Setting an alarm for 50 minutes, say, you can press and hold the minute button down and the number increases quickly without beeps. In order not to overshoot though, you have to release the button sooner rather than later, because you can’t re-adjust downwards if you overshoot (like you can when you’re setting the clock). Then you have to single press the button several times, with the accompanying annoying beeps. It would have been nice to have up AND down buttons for hours, minutes and seconds, instead of just up buttons.

OTHER THINGS I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO BE DIFFERENT

Dual timer: I really wanted a unit that had two timers as well as a 24 hour clock. The few options that could fulfill these two requirements failed to live up to other functional requirements of mine.

Aesthetically more pleasing design - simpler, cleaner lines and layout of the unit - would have been nice (in my opinion, the display layout is good as is). The brushed steel front is a plus, but its shape detracts in this regard.

I have bought this to replace my previous one (other make) which lasted me 10 years!
So far this one is works great: easy to use, clear to see even from across a room, loud even on the smallest setting, really strong magnets at the back. I would recommend this product

Its the third timer we’ve had. The others broke after a couple of years, i’m hoping this lasts longer. It seems more robust and well made than the previous we owned. The beeping noise is a bit grating, but you can’t miss it and it cuts through background noise if i’m in a different room when it sounds. I like the fact you can set hours and minutes separately so as long as your cook is under 12 hours this timer will cover it. The clock setting is also useful and I’ve used this more than i thought i would.

What a brilliant piece of equipment. It has a volume control on the timer. It's free standing or fridge magnets. It's so simple and easy to use, in fact even an octogenarian like me can understand it straight away. My heartfelt thanks to all concerned, it's wonderful.

This is a quality item. it is nice to have the timer and clock functions. The display is large and easy to read and the backlight is excellent. The strong magnets hold it securely onto the cooker. The timer sound is very loud (even on the lowest setting). However, you get the same sound even changing either the clock or timer functions which can be annoying. Overall, this is a really nice timer/clock.
