L'autore

This book evolved out of a series of workshops with the Primary 7 year group at Sciennes Primary School, Edinburgh (2011). Through the Pencilling Creative Ideas programme they did workshops in character design, setting the scene, storyline, editing, publishing, marketing and advertising. In doing so they produced this book, Mother Earth s Children . The students developed the four characters based on their own personalities and gave them super powers to enable them to combat environmental issues. They researched their own environmental theme using the internet to do so and set each challenge for their eco-warriors to face. They then developed the stories as well as the relationships between the characters and their understanding of the world around them, at the same time they increased their understanding of the real environmental issue which face us all today. Finally the students resolved their stories, and the conclusions were all their own including the powerful ending. Once this was done the stories were written up by author Mary T Thomson who said: The storylines that these students have produced has had a profound effect on me. In writing up their ideas it has changed the way I behave and how I see the world. It has made me more aware of my environment and my contribution to the carbon footprint. The book made me laugh, think and cry.
