Tom wood ha creato un personaggio anomalo, Victor è un killer, letale, un uomo apparentemente senza emozioni ma leggendo i suoi libri si parteggia per lui, si fa il tifo e si é catapultati nel suo mondo. Libro godibile con una trama all' altezza dei precedenti.

This one was very entertaining. Tom Wood’s writing style is perfect for me. I didn’t love the outcome between Victor and Raven, but that’s how these books go: the story isn’t always what you’d expect, and there are no fairy tale endings. I do like how the author works in the storyline of characters from past books, and reveals what has become of them since being left in Victor’s wake. He delves leave a trail of destruction behind him. Very fun series. Looking forward to the next one.

Tom Wood’s “Victor” books are always well written and researched and I have enjoyed them all; however, Victor is in danger of becoming a cliche. Yes, he’s a ruthless assassin. Yes, he’s thorough. Yes, he’s good at what he does. But his actions are now predictable and, dare I say it, a bit boring. He’s utterly emotionless, so in turn it’s hard to get emotional about him. This book is saved by “Raven” who would be a great main character on her own. With her you can gain an attachment; with Victor there’s nothing. He just does his work and that’s it. Having said this, there were hints at more of his backstory and how he became to be who he is in this book, so maybe the next books will reveal more…

Victor is the ultimate assassin. An angel of death without mercy or conscience. But his past dealings with the CIA not only earned him a shoot-on-sight order, but also made him a marked man in his chosen profession. And to top it all off, a femme fatale he once saved is about to re-enter his life with a bang. And she has powerful enemies of her own…

From the get go I was especially intrigued by this volume of the Victor series, since it promised to bring back a lot of familiar faces and tie up loose threads from previous books. I practically signed up to Netgalley just for the slim chance of getting my hands on this book a couple of months early! It worked and at the end, THE FINAL HOUR was everything I hoped it to be… But also so much more! (It goes without saying that I pre-ordered the final version of the book here on Amazon nonetheless!)

There has always been an odd sense of elegance, watching Victor meticulously planning his actions and then see him carrying them out with deadly precision. Tom Wood’s writing not only transports the reader directly into the scene – be it the Majesty of Rome or the cold streets of Helsinki – it also immerses them in Victor’s mind, depicting his sometimes unsavoury yet always fascinating thought process in awe-striking detail.

Another known quality of Mr. Wood, is his infallible sense for creating memorable, imaginative action-scenes, which will let your heart pump faster and probably make the Helmer of the Bourne Movies green with envy! Also of note are the returns of some fan-favourite characters. The enigmatic female assassin, going by the codename Raven and the ruthless but quite likable CIA heavyweight Roland Procter are just two prominent members of the impressive ensemble of old and new characters, featured in THE FINAL HOUR!

But what lets this book rise not only about its predecessors but quite possibly the entire competition of 2017, is the deftness of its plotting! Tom wood effortlessly weaves multiple different plot threads into an ever twisting and utterly compelling narrative, which not only puts a nice bow across past events but also sets the stage for many more books to come. Which is just as well, as I have the inkling that Victor – and his creator – are just getting started!

After the last entry in the series bored me, I was worried this one would be more of the same predictable repetitiveness. But I was pleasantly surprised. This was the most engaging of the series since the first few, for me. It was character driven and brought back and together a lot of previous characters. It was more personal a mission for Victor, assuring his own safety, rather than another job that he was paid for and had no connection to. It showed the complexity of his character; his deep buried feelings and his continued efforts to suppress them. It reinvigorated my interest in him as a character and in this series.

Book Review - Kill For Me by British author Tom Wood is the best Victor The Assassin novel yet in this great action thriller series - it is a perfect action thriller read! Tom Wood deserves a lot more attention and credit for this series. His novels are as good as the best authors of the modern action thriller genre including Ben Coes, Brad Thor, Mark Greaney, Marc Cameron, Brad Taylor, Jack Carr and John Gilstrap. Victor the Assassin is unique because there are no other action thriller characters who are similar to him. The setting for Kill for Me is Guatemala where two well protected sisters who head rival drug gangs are seeking to kill each other. One hires Victor to kill her sister and there is where the action begins! Excellent action thriller by one of my favorite action thriller authors.

Victor ist Victor. Unvergleichlich. Cool. Tödlich. Aber nicht immer. Zuerst vergiftet er Raven, dann gibt er ihr eine Chance zu überleben, dann arbeiten sie zusammen, um dann zu sterben. Klingt ein wenig bizarr. Ist es aber nicht.
Victor ist nicht zur ein Hunter. Er ist auch ein Gejagter.
Alvarez hat noch eine alte Rechnung mit Victor offen und setzt alles daran, seinen Erzfeind vom Angesicht der Erde zu tilgen. Er hat einen Vorteil. Er weiß, wer er in Wirklichkeit ist.
Aber Victor wird durch seinen ehemaligen Arbeitgeber Procter gewarnt. Und so beginnt ein Katz and Maus Spiel zwischen Alvarez, Phoenix, Raven und den Geheimdiensten.
Wie gewohnt, nimmt die Geschichte schnell, actionreich und ohne große Umwege seinen Lauf. Die Dialoge sind kurz und knackig, beschränken sich auf das Nötigste und zeigen einen Victor, wie wie ihn kennen. Kalt, berechnend und funktional.
Die einzelnen Stränge verteilen sich fast gleichmäßig, sind vll etwas zu lang. Ich hätte mir etwas mehr Victor und weniger Raven gewünscht. Aber ok, das ist Geschmacksache.
Alles in allem, ist "The Final Hour" gelungen, spannend bis genial und ein echter Victor. Und darauf kommt es ja an.
