Bought these for my BF and he loves them. Merrell shoes/hikers, require no break-in time, they are ready to wear out of the box.

Note that they size around a 1/4 size off. It's almost as though they size to bare feet rather than socked feet. That is to say, my BF takes a size 11 but had to go to an 11.5 because the 11 was too perfect. Probably could have worked with very thin socks, but that's not practical.

As a woman, I ordered the 7... a 7.25 would have been perfect (7.5 too big) so I kept the 7 and used thinner socks.

The trainer is great. Very light weight, and the sole thick enough to be comfy on gravel/stone tracks. I usually take a size 8 shoes, and an 8 1/2 in a running shoe. I went to the 8 1/2 and it is a great fit. 8 would have been too small. My feet slightly wide size of normal, so if you have wide feet I am not sure this is the shoe for you. I wore them for a couple of days to break them in - now they are very comfortable.

This shoe has a moderate lug depth, perfect for long strolls in the grass or on concrete. I use my MOAB 2 mid boots for when I have a backpack - these are not sufficient for serious hiking with a pack, but thats not what they were designed for. But, they are awesome for 5-10 mile walks through parks. I love them for that. And, the Goretex works great, never had a wet sock in the rain - ever.

Use them for what they were designed for, and you'll be happy. My pair had great quality construction, and with several hundred miles on them now, they continue to deliver.

They fit exactly as I expected, no break in required - just as I expected from Merrell.

Really enjoying these shoes.
Firstly the waterproofing is great. I'm out leading forest schools all day and they haven't leaked once. The grip is good on everything except smooth surfaces when wet. This makes going inside a bit tricky until the bottom is dry and smooth rock could be an issue. Thinking of the pyg and miners track in snowdon where rocks have been polished could be interesting but haven't experienced. They are great in muddy slopes where the tread can cut through.
They are very light and comfy and feel like a trainer to me. Perfect for my needs

Having previously bought a pair of these whilst on holiday, at full price, I knew they were very comfortable and beneficial for me. I have arthritis in my big toes and have spent many hundreds of pounds trying to get comfortable footwear. These shoes are as good, or better than, anything else I’ve bought. To get them at nearly half price was too good an opportunity to miss, they arrived well ahead of schedule and are in perfect condition. I would happily buy again.

Perfect fit, excellent feel and comfortable. I live on the ocean and needed something that could repel the moisture, sand and water from the sands. It does the job and then some. The sole and grip is excellent for walking. The look/color is especially appealing if you like these sorts of things. I wear them running errands and everyone has a positive comment. They look great with jeans, black, blue or gray.

Love merrell 2nd pair, straight out of the box 15mile wouldn't even they were new, 2nd time wearing 26mile hike through wye valley. No blisters no ache. Everyone is different, but for me merrell all the way

Wanted good hiking shoes for uneven surfaces and these fit the task. The soles are stiff which is wanted and they are extremely light. A bit tighter on the width than I usually wear but expect them to fit feet better after use. Overall,l rate 8/10.

These are my second pair of this type of Merrell’s just different colour, my first pair are about 2 years old n Iv walked the guts out of em . As soon as u put the on u can feel the quality and comfort , no need to break them in , they fit like a glove .
I walked over 50miles off the beaten track in north Wales within a few days of buying them , so if your looking for lightweight but strong and comfortable u really can’t go wrong with em ,
